April 19, 2012 - Vascular Spectacular
Apr 19, 2012
by
Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
Maybe you have heard by now, but this has been a real big week for our vascular services at VVRMC.
Watch your local media outlet for the following headline:
Val Verde Regional Medical Center Receives Vascular Testing Accreditation
VVRMC has been granted a 3 year term of accreditation in vascular testing in the areas of extracranial cerebrovascular testing and peripheral venous testing by the Intersocietal Commission (IAC). IAC accreditation is the highest "seal of approval" for hospitals. It is a strong indicator that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of vascular testing.
Hip! Hip! Hooray! Let's give it up for Margie Andrade, Nora Carrillo and Tracy Guy. These ladies are the heart of our vascular imaging program and have made this goal happen. Sooo cool.
And what great timing! Monday we had our first peripheral-vascular clinic led by Dr. Boulos Toursarkissian, who is the Chief of Vascular Surgery at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He also practices at Methodist and is close collegues with Drs. Osorio, Espinoza and Triana--all the cardiologists we've been working with to build this thing we're buildin'. Relationships matter! Dr. T is about as high-rollin' as they come, and it's huge to have him here in Del Rio and on our campus. He will be here every 4th week. He will be here for two days at a time. He will do procedural work out of the OR and the cath lab. Both of those crews spent time with him on Monday while he was here (he went ahead and saw 7 patients in clinic!) in order to have everything ready for May 17/18. I think they will attest to the fact that he's a real gentleman and consumate professional. Great for quality. Great for image. Please while he is here help him feel welcome. He was very impressed w/ VVRMC and it's team this week. Went out of his way that what he saw certainly exceeded his expectations! Great work Adrian Larson and Gayla Satterfield--two of our Senior Directors definitely earning their keep as of late w/ all this clinic and ancillary activity--for pulling this venture off quickly and with a bang!
There is a lot of vascular disease in our community. We will continue to do all we can to service their needs with the best people doing things the way we do as high quality as we can.
Keep The Spirit,
Marc
