September 6, 2012 - Outstanding Joint Commission Survey.....check!!!

Folks,
When you're hot, you're hot!  Right on the heels of receiving the TORCH award for best hospital in the state for Leadership/Culture, we nailed our TJC survey.  We just exited w/ our surveyors, who were extremely complimentary of the team both at the bedside and in support areas.  They were impressed!  They left no stone unturned.  They traced patients.  They interviewed staff.  They were on the roof.  They were up above the ceiling.  They hit almost all departments in some shape or form.  These things can be real buggers if they start going the wrong way.

In the end, we had zero infractions that would trigger a follow-up survey.  We have 11 items that they brought to our attention that will require some follow-up in our action plan.  About half of those were in clinical areas and the other half related to environment of care (building condition etc.).  Good news is of the 11, most are already fixed.  They were relatively low hanging fruit.  Once we have the final report we will share more detail, summarize and likely post on myvvrmc.org.

Super duper job team!  So proud of our efforts and feels great to be able to execute.
