There is no greater flattery than to be respected by your peers!
I am very pleased to announce that Val Verde Regional Medical Center has won the TORCH Leadership and Management Institute's (TLMI) annual Leadership Culture Award--an award given to only one rural hospital in the state. This award "recognizes an accomplished team or organizational culture that has worked successfully together for the betterment of the organization, patients and the communities they service". VVRMC will be presented with this award this Thursday in Austin at the organization's annual conference and retreat.
To be nominated, hospitals had to demonstrate the following characteristics:
1. Model effective collaboration, communication, and consensus building
2. Demonstrate the ideal of a service-oriented culture that is focused on measurable results and outcomes
3. Achieve new standards of quality of care, customer service, patient satisfaction, and organizational performance
4. Embody the spirit of successful teamwork, mutual respect, support, and innovation.
With the support of several folks in the community, including our Mayor as well as Chamber President, we told our story of the journey through the past 5 years, with most of the heavy lifting taking place the last 3. They statistics we share with you at the Town Halls are really quite remarkable and show where we've been and what we have become.
This certainly marks a high point for VVRMC and one that we want to reset our baseline and continue to achieve great heights. It's great to be recognized regionally as the Best In the State, and we will now set our sights on another equally impressive national award in January of 2013.
After we pick up the hardware later this week we will share w/ everyone on sight and be sure to make a big splash in the newspaper.
