November 22, 2011 - Turkey day and new things around VVRMC

Nov 22, 2011 by Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
Happy early Thanksgiving to those of you that I haven't been able to say that to in person.  Your senior management team had a great time last night serving our night shift staff the wonderful Turkey day dinner Jed and his crew prepared.  Very happy to do that for you guys.  And for our team that works in the cafeteria on the serving line, your jobs are safe after seeing the motley crue that was in there at lunch yesterday serving up the feast.  Forrest, Francine and John....don't quit your day jobs!  I was particularly impressed with Forrest in a hairnet.  And for John?  Oh, that's right he doesn't need one.....
They were nice enough to break away from their busy schedules to help serve up over 200 plates at lunch yesterday.

Have you noticed anything new around campus?  It's sort of like playing Where's Waldo to pick up on all the little improvements we are making.  Let me recognize Rodney from the lab for pointing out our predicament of accessing the morgue.  It's less than ideal that we have to go outside to get there, but even worse that we had no ramp to get to the back door.  That was either an accident waiting to happen or an embarassing moment to come if we had a "wreck" back there.  No more.  We've installed a concrete ramp so that there is easier, safer access for transporting.  Thanks Rodney for pointing that out.  If you have a good idea that will improve quality, safety, patient satisfaction or our bottom line, we are all ears.  Just let us know!

I've never been a fan of flag poles w/ no flags.  Really, what's the purpose?  So, if you'll notice at the "old" entrance to the hospital, we are now proudly flying a new VVRMC that advertises our web page as well as a flag to show our support for Del Rio High School men's and lady's athletics.  Pretty cool.

To those of you that are working through the holiday later this week so that the rest of us can have a day off, thanks.  I hope whether you are working or not that you get to spend some time with family and friends as that's what this season is all about!

Keep the Spirit,
Marc
