November 6, 2012 - New doctors at VVRMC

Nov 06, 2012 by Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
Want to keep you updated regarding some new faces on the medical staff this week at VVRMC.

We have a new hospitalist who will be covering this week and later in the month to help give Dr. K a needed break.  His name is Dr. Sontineni.  Please make him feel welcome in Del Rio and at VVRMC.  He will be with us the rest of the week and then back at least one more time.  You may not realize that Dr. Laing covered the hospitalist service this weekend.  We appreciated his support as well.  Always great to have him working in the hospital!  As I rounded on patients Monday morning, they all sang his praises!  We are working on getting Dr. Brown lined up to start in our regular rotation toward the tail end of the year and to go 7-on/7-off with Dr. K.  He's coming from San Antonio where he has been a hospitalist in the Baptist Health System.

As we continue to recruit Dr. Carpio for a fulltime, permanent spot for urology, we also welcome Dr. Saba to the temporary rotation.  He started yesterday and will provide 2 weeks per month of coverage for us both in the clinic as well as the hospital through March when we anticipate Dr. Carpio coming on board.  It is nice to continue to piece together this service until we can lock down a more strategic plan in urology.

Dr. Snider is a relatively new podiatrist in town who is seeing patients out of the hospital "visiting doctor" clinic and also performing surgeries in the OR.  He is seeing patients at the hospital every Tuesday.

Dr. Yanez is a new pediatric dentist who has joined United Medical Centers recently and has begun to perform dental rehabilitation cases in our OR.  This work I believe began last Friday.

So, some new faces around as we work to continue to recruit doctors to VVRMC to join us in taking great care of our community.  More to come no doubt!

Keep the Spirit,
Marc
