Folks,
Nearly a week ago, about 75 gathered for the culminating event of hospital week 2012.  Delayed by the rain, we hung out on the lawn and ate great food prepared by our dietary team and listened to awesome live music by Family Jewels, which is our own Pina Calderon's sons' band.  It was rockin'!

The purpose of the event was to recognize our firestarters.  These are the real leaders of our team that are in the trenches each day and were kindly and respectfully nominated and voted on by their peers.  And as I said at the event, this is the best type of recognition!

I thank all of the nominees for their hard work and dedication.  For those that won awards--we hooked them up w/ some nice momentos for their office as well as $250 cash--you guys really are special.  We count on you to lead and know that you are dependable to always do the right thing by our patients, no matter who is or isn't watching.  You are mindful that what you say, how you look, what you don't say, how you approach situations, how you problem solve, how you react, how you judge, how you are calm under fire, and how you critically think--are always being watched.  You influence this organization and are as much a part of our recent awesome employee engagement scores (again!) as anything.  So here goes the winners in each category.  Be sure and congratulate these guys and gals...love'em up because they deserve it!
