January 18, 2013 - Busier than a one-armed paper hanger.....

Jan 18, 2013 by Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
We are off to the races in 2013.  I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for humping it and pulling together to take care of our patients during this busy time.  This is busier than it was last winter--maybe flu has something to w/ it I'm not sure--and it's the busiest VVRMC has been since I have been here.  I know a lot of you are working a lot of overtime and pitching in when you'd normally have a day off.  Thanks.  Not sure what else to say....except hope you get to put your feet up soon!

Next week is our Employe Service Awards Dinner.  As mentioned in the Town Halls (by the way...way to go on setting a new Town Hall record w/ 352 in attendance during this busy time!) we will be recognizing team members that have passed tenure milestones from 5 to 40 years of service to VVRMC and Del Rio.  With our wonderful Board's support, we were able to up the reward $ this year, especially for those over 30 years.  30 years gets $500, 35 years gets $1,000 and 40 years gets $2,000.  Even better, the Board approved going back and offering these awards to anyone who has passed the 30-year milestone.  We didn't think it fair if you are at 37 years and we made this decision this year you get sort of hosed.  So that's pretty cool, and we're proud of our team that's been here so long and seen this place and been a part of this place as it has evolved into what VVRMC is today.

At Town Hall we talked about improvement in patient satisfaction.  You saw the color changes up there.  Well, I got a nice letter and Certificate today in the mail from Press Ganey who does our surveys.  They have made it official.  They wanted to congratulate us for improvement in the ER, which by their account is proven to be statistically significant.  We already new that but good to be validated by the experts!!!!  Great job team.  Not just in the ER but all the other areas that serve the ER--lab, radiology, housekeeping, case management, admitting, patient liasons, EMS, RT, security and maintenance just to name a few!  This award and recognition is for you!!

Keep the Spirit,
Marc
