April 19, 2012 - Cancer Stinks

Apr 19, 2012 by Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
Suffice it to say the cliche holds true...I bet there isn't one of us reading this who hasn't either had to battle cancer or known someone who has or is doing that now.  I don't have to tell you it's a real, real bad thing that so often cuts lives short and robs us of years of experiences and memories with friends and families.  At 39, I am almost certain that in my lifetime I will see a cure for cancer.  For this reason, it's real easy to give money to help fight it.

As you are aware, we are in the middle of our Relay For Life fundraiser.  As always for this crew, there has been tremendous generousity forthcoming.  However, we are about $600 short of what we raised last year.  I would like to beat that.  I would like to solidify our position as the #1 contributor for this event in our region.  To that end, I pledge to match every $1 donated to Relay For Life for the rest of this month up to $250 with a $2 donation.  So, if ya'll that have not donated or anyone who wants to up their ante will do so, I'll match it 2x.  That way we get the $250 + $500 more = $750 and we'll be well ahead of last year.  Help me make this a reality.

Speaking of giving, our vendor that is doing all of our construction has done their part.  They graciously donated all the labor and materials to finish out our Cancer Resource Room over toward the old hospital entrance.  We look forward to furnishing the suite soon and making its resources available to cancer survivors here in Del Rio.  Brett---this was a great idea and thanks for helping make that happen.

Keep the Spirit,
Marc
