September 24, 2012 - CEO Mailbag
Sep 24, 2012
by
Marc Strode, CEO
Folks,
Happy Monday! I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, but it won't dampen my spirit in regards to feelin' real good in regards to what came in the mailbag last week. I wanted to share a few of them w/ you......
First, from one of our own team members who was a patient here recently. In her letter to me she shared w/ me how awesome everyone REALLY and TRULY is. She started at admitting in the ER, which was significant as she did not know this person admitting her nor did she think they realized she was an employee here. She said they were so courteous and that it was all nature...no pretending! She immediately was placed in a room in the ER...no waiting! Her nurse Jessica and a student that was shadowing her were both awesome as was Dr. Sanchez. She had imaging done, and they were thoughtful enough to take the ultrasound into the ER room rather than having her go to radiology, acknowledging how much pain she was in. Sandra from the lab drew her labs.....says she was so caring! She closed by saying no one ever wants to be a patient in the hospital, but these awesome techs, nurses and doctors really showed they cared and made her experience feel like VIP treatment!. To the team in the ER--great job!
The next comes from a patient who is out at LAFB. He recently was in radiology for a couple of MRIs. He could stop talking about One and what a super job he did both times! Said the service from Admitting to Radiology and back was as good as it gets. He says keep up the great work VVRMC! One, you go man! Hip, hip, hooray!
The next letter came from a lady that wanted me to know what she had posted on her Facebook page. She started by saying that she wanted to recognize this "great hospital facility here in Del Rio that is often unfairly criticized." She was recently hospitalized here, and she especially liked that staff remembered her from previous visits. Says that made her feel like family. She said the service was outstanding ranging from the ER to admitting to the floor. She liked that her room had been updated and made a point to say the food was outstanding! She talked about being in pain during part of her stay, and how cool it was that her nurse (who unfortunately she does not name) just sat there next to her and held her hand and consoled her and said that as much as any pill helped to make the pain go away.
Lastly was a very kind note from one of Val Verde County's former sheriffs. He made a point to write not only me, but the entire Board got their own personal letter! He was writing on behalf of his family in regards to the care their mom received here earlier this year. He made a point to recognize the following staff on Med/Surg for their compassionate care:
Roger Molano, Dianna Morales, Criselda Sarceda, Monica Partida, Denise Brown, Cindy Haas, and Cristina Quiz.
From Hospice they singled out: Edna Rivera, Belinda Alaniz, Marvin Wood, and Bonnie Henderson.
He wanted the Board and me to know that each of these team members needed to be commended for their professionalism and especially for the caring and loving attitude exhibited by each of them as they comforted my Mother and each of us as family members. His last comment was "the hospital has turned the corner and is headed in the right direction. Finally we in the community can take pride in our own Hospital, its staff, employees and leadership. You make us proud!"
To the med/surg team and hospice team all I can say is "wow"! That's cool stuff. Thank you.
And with those, I am already feeling better. "Great service", "professionalism", "caring", "compassion"....I can't think of better adjectives to describe how we roll at VVRMC. I too am proud of the team.
Keep the Spirit,
Marc
